Mercy sakes alive! You put an email link and a request for information on a site and before you know it, your email account is full and you spend several interesting hours clicking links and learning more than you can imagine about someone else. All public. All free. All easily accessed.
What to do?
Well I tell you what to do. You have a brilliant idea of starting a page full of information. A page created, “funded” so to speak, by readers. Some of it’s shocking, some of it’s just interesting, and some of it’s just plain bizarre. A service really, that’s what it is.
A scandal, of sorts, involving the infamous and much-beloved Mrs. G. Mrs. G writes a fabulous accounting of the events and, brilliantly, adds her own humor in the process. I actually knew nothing about this but was shocked, most of all, to learn that PW pays quite well for her guest posts. I admit that I’m dying to know how much! Seems PW threw her friend under the bus to avoid “offending” her audience. Huh, choosing your audience over doing the right thing? Seems like a no-brainer to me.
Tulsa World had an article about the family lead foot.
Federal BLM contracts are public information, did you know that? I didn’t either. They’re a very interesting read. Drummond Land & Cattle received $1.5 million in 2008 as a BLM holding facility. That’s not the only one though. They sure do get a lot of money from the government!
Goodness, there’s even more money from the government! Notice the top recipient is Drummond Land & Cattle but just for kicks, keep clicking next because personal names are in there too. Just click around, that site is fascinating! There are a LOT of Drummonds around there, for sure.
They even list the subsidies by crop and here’s just the wheat. I’m sure one could occupy oneself for hours by going through each crop for each Drummond holding for each farm in each county. My fingers are exhuasted just thinking about it!
Oops, don’t forget the “southern farm” or “second farm” or “weekend farm” or whatever the hell they call it. It’s down in Jefferson County and my, my look who’s among the top government subsidy recipient down there?
Have you ever played the game Bullshit? Well this lady apparently has!
Here’s a little firecracker gal! She lives near the Drummond Ranch and is quite vocal about her feelings about them. Damn, I’d love to talk with her, wouldn’t you? Props to anyone who can get her name and phone number or email. How assinine is it that PW won a “Lifetime Achievement Award”? Seriously?
A BlogHer deal that left a bad taste in some mouths.
This blogger wrote her an open letter.
I’ll keep updating as I receive more.
